Ninth-ranked Jayhawks leave Titans feeling queasy

Brandon Rush added nine points and five rebounds while Russell Robinson netted seven for the Jayhawks (11-2), who have won five in a row.

Brandon Cotton donated 20 points and Ryvon Covile had seven points and 10 boards for the Titans (3-9), who have lost five of their last six games.

Kansas jumped out to a 16-3 lead, including three from Chalmers, Robinson and Sherron Collins, as Detroit missed 10 of its first 11 shots from the floor.

Chalmers' three-point play with two ticks remaining on the first-half clock gave the Jayhawks a 26-16 lead at the half.

Rush's jumper made the score 36-23, but the Titans responded with a 15-5 run, including seven points from Cotton, narrowing the gap to 41-37 with under nine minutes to play.

Kansas then countered with an 11-3 spurt, capped by Chalmers dunk, extending the margin to 52-40.

Covile's three-point play cut the deficit to nine, 52-43, but that was as close as Detroit would get.

The game was delayed early in the second half when Titans' assistant coach Garland Mance vomited court side. The floor was cleaned up as Mance left for the locker room.

Game Notes

Kansas shot 46 percent from the floor, while Detroit connected on 30 percent of its shots from the field, including 5-of-21 from long distance...Kansas welcomes Rhode Island on Saturday. Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value

If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture.  Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).
